Mushrooms blend dose-dependently increases butyrate production by the gut microbiota

Mushrooms blend dose-dependently increases butyrate production by the gut microbiota Researchers at the Netherland’s Maastricht University examined the effect of a predigested blend of 3 mushrooms at three doses (0.5,…

The Effects of Prebiotic Supplementation with OMNi-LOGiC® FIBRE on Fecal Microbiome, Fecal Volatile Organic Compounds, and Gut Permeability in Murine Neuroblastoma-Induced Tumor-Associated Cachexia

our results suggest that NB-induced TAC causes increased gut permeability coupled with compositional changes in the fecal microbiome and VOC profile. Prebiotic supplementation with OMNi-LOGiC® FIBRE seemed to induce modifications of…

Prebiotics in infant formula could improve learning and memory and alter brain chemistry

University of Illinois researchers have investigated the effect of a cow's milk-based infant formula supplemented with polydextrose (PDX), a synthetic carbohydrate with prebiotic activity, and galactooligosaccharide (GOS), on a piglet population, measuring volatile fatty acids (VFAs) -- excreted by bacteria during digestion of these prebiotic fibers, leading them to conclude and extrapolate that prebiotics in infant formula could improve learning and memory as well as alter brain chemistry.
