Japanese Citrus Extract in Mice Study and High Lipid Diet, Obese Mice Model
According to Taiwanese researchers in an article published in the Journal of Food and drug Analysis, researchers examined the impact of consumption of Depressa peel extract ( a Japanese citrus) in a high-fat diet (HFD)-induced obese mice model, observing that the flavonoid-rich extract containing hesperidin, sinesentin, nobiletin, tangeretin, 5-demethylnobiletin, and 5-demethyltangeretin increased Lactobacillus reuteri demonstrating that the demonstrated that extract helps decrease lipid accumulation through the AMPK pathway, a prebiotic-like effect.
