Mushrooms blend dose-dependently increases butyrate production by the gut microbiota

Researchers at the Netherland’s Maastricht University examined the effect of a predigested blend of 3 mushrooms at three doses (0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 g/day) on a pooled microbiota of healthy adults for 72 hours, observing a does dependent increase in butyrate producing genera Lachnospiraceae UCG-004, LachnoclostridiumRuminococcaceae UCG-002 and Ruminococcaceae NK4A214-group.
