According to a recent article published in the journal ‘Gut’, researchers, in a randomized, cross-over study, examined the effect of a prebiotic diet and its effect on food decision-making in overweight adults, observing shifts in the microbiota, specifically towards increased occurrence of, among others, SCFA-producing Bifidobacteriaceae that paralleled decreased brain activation towards high-caloric wanted food stimuli.
